The project

BOU Café is a Barcelona-based company with a long tradition in the coffee sector serving the Horeca channel. In early 2023 they decided to open up the Amazon channel in order to reach the end customer directly with an exclusive product.

Artick took on end-to-end management: from setting up the account and building the catalogue through to advertising, expansion into 5 European markets and the launch of new product lines. In parallel, we worked on optimising their own ecommerce store (Shopify).

Our work

Four pillars to build an Amazon channel from scratch

We started from scratch: no sales history, no optimised catalogue and no advertising structure. In 15 months we built a multi-country channel with 6 product families and a presence across 5 European markets.

Listing SEO & A+ Content

  • Coffee keyword research in ES, FR, IT, NL
  • Optimised titles, bullets and descriptions
  • A+ Content with origin and process storytelling
  • Brand Store with subcategories by coffee type
  • Product and lifestyle imagery for Amazon
  • Multilingual localisation (FR, IT, NL)

Amazon Advertising

  • SP + Display campaign architecture
  • Ad strategy documented across 2 drafts
  • Berraco launch campaign (Prime Days)
  • Display Video + Display Creative
  • Ad expansion into 5 European countries
  • Management of deals and Prime Exclusive Discounts

International Expansion

  • Launch of Amazon FR, IT, NL and BE
  • Full catalogue translations (3 languages)
  • Upload files by marketplace and category
  • Pricing strategy by market
  • Launch campaigns by country
  • Monitoring of European ranking

FBA Logistics & Operations

  • 11+ FBA shipments managed in 12 months
  • Coordination of UPS collections and labelling
  • Management of shipment discrepancies
  • Stock control and demand forecasting
  • Dimension and weight calculations by ASIN
  • Resolution of incidents with Amazon

European expansion

From Amazon Spain to 5 European markets in a year

After consolidating our presence on Amazon Spain, we expanded the catalogue to France, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. Each launch included a full catalogue translation, price adaptation and launch campaigns tailored to each market.

Channel strategy

From Amazon visibility to Shopify loyalty

We applied a three-phase methodology to maximise the return at every customer touchpoint.

Phase 101

Channel analysis and definition

We identified Amazon as the entry channel to the B2C online coffee consumer
We segmented the catalogue by channel: ×3/×6/×8 multipacks for Amazon, premium formats for Shopify
We defined distinct KPIs: volume and acquisition on Amazon, margin and recurrence on Shopify
We established a pricing policy that eliminates cannibalisation between channels
Phase 202

Marketplace presence and growth

Amazon as a discovery engine: access to millions of active shoppers
Exclusive multipacks optimise FBA fees: bigger pack, lower % cost per unit
Expansion into 5 European markets broadens reach without duplicating operations
Prime Exclusive Discounts and launch campaigns to accelerate organic ranking
Phase 303

Loyalty on the owned channel

Shopify as the destination for the already-convinced customer: higher margin, a direct relationship and no intermediaries
Owned-channel exclusive formats reinforce the value proposition and avoid price comparison
Email marketing and recurrence to maximise the lifetime value of the customer acquired on Amazon
The owned channel acts as a safety net against Amazon algorithm or policy changes
Multichannel growth

Sustained, simultaneous growth on Amazon and Shopify

The dual-channel strategy was reflected in parallel results: Amazon scaled from 1 to 5 markets with order volume growing every quarter, while Shopify consolidated the recurrence and margin of the owned channel.
